A Small Project Between the Storms

Its been raining a lot... if the sun is out... it will even rain with the sun out! Its been insane to say the least. I'm hoping it has stopped for good today, but I doubt it. Yesterday I had about an hour or so that was rain free (not exactly, the sun was out and it would randomly sprinkle here and there) so I did a little project inspired from a gardening buddy Karen over at TheEasyGarden.com . I've turned my husband's old ugly work boots, into a couple of decent pots for some extra plants I had.

One of the boots has a busted zipper and won't close all the way so I stuffed some creeping jenny in there to flow down the side and help plug the hole. I have Columbine stuffed in the top of that one, while I only have 1 Calundula in the other. They are a bit droopy in the pic as I just planted them yesterday. Today they have already perked back up! :-D

Finished the Front of the House!!!!

Siding on the front of the house is done, along with putting the shutters back up and the lights are reinstalled. I only need to paint the columns now. They've even moved over to the driveway side of the house... as of 6pm they are half was up the house.

A lot of the yard is in bloom, and I spent the day mulching while the men sided. So I'm exhausted, but everything looks gorgeous. Here I'll post what is going on so you can enjoy it as much as I do... well, not as much since I get to touch and smell everything!

My chicks have gotten so big too! They are 3 weeks old now!

Well...

... I pulled something today in my neck, and I sliced my fingers open on some wire last night... soooooooooo, I'm lacking in the motivation department today. I need to get myself together as I am planning on working out at the gym in the morning.

I will go gather photos for here this evening though, so many things are in bloom I just have to share them. Today I moved a plant that was being smuthered by another plant, and I turned some coffee grounds into the soil around my blueberry bushes. That seems to have been a lot on me as I am worn out now. I had just enough left in my to water everything and come in to get lunch and put my daughter down for a nap. Now I am going to go take a nap.

Hubby is a few hours away and working late tonight so I think daughter and I will have dinner out on the deck and then spend the evening on the swing set or in the garden.

Enough...

..I've had ENOUGH rain already!!!

We haven't been able to much of anything lately. Everything is muddy and wet. We've gotten no further on the siding, and I am a little late planting the last few items I want in.

I will try to get my beans out in the garden tomorrow. Tonight and today look too cold for some plants... thankfully, unlike a lot of the country, we didn't get a surprise late frost last night.

We we have gotten are some yummy ripe strawberries and some sugar snap peas. I went out long enough to harvest those and grab some eggs. WHICH reminds me, another one of my hens has gone broody on me... so I'm giving her a handful of eggs today to sit on. So expect more hatchling picture in the next 21 days ;)

The Cottage Renovation Goes On

We still haven't finished the front siding, but we're getting there. I had an enjoyable Mother's day... so that was important. I was expected anything really getting done yesterday, but hubby and his friend managed to knock out the rotted columns and put up the new posts I picked out. Is it just me or is my cottage vision actually coming through now!? :)

Another Garden Walk

I need to step away from the garden every once in awhile and stop watching it like a hawk. The last couple of days of rain helped keep me away long enough to go out and see this awesome growth spurt I've had!!!

Gotta share some shots with you... and soon MORE to come!

Hatching Day!!!

Today I woke up to 5 gorgeous chicks I've been so impatient about! They are the cutest, and I get to keep this batch because these are the special eggs I bought. If there is a rooster eventually, I'll keep him... if they're all roosters... I'm screwed! LOL
